Background checks, aka 'Risk Management' for coaches/volunteers

Background checks OR what is also known as ’Risk Management’ are required by the Florida Youth Soccer Assocation (FYSA) for all coaches and others interacting with youth players. Section 105.3.3 (defines coaches/volunteers)

’Coaches/volunteers are defined as: members of the FYSA  BOD; education staff; ODP coaches and scouts;, district, league and club officers; and program directors, team managers, team or individual trainers, coaches, assistant coaches and substitute coaches, and anyone else who may have interaction or who at any time could be expected in the performance of their duties to be alone with any registered youth player/referee under the umbrella of FYSA.’

Club Coaching Vocabulary

Most youth clubs offer soccer to players age 4-19.  Once players reach the soccer age of U9, different levels of play are often offered.  Players move throughout each level throughout their soccer career as well as experience different coaches.  Playing for a different coach benefits the players as they are forced to adapt to differing personalities, coaching methods, as well as communication methods.
